A Home of the Light is a home that is focused on two life-long processes of the Christian life.
- The transformation of people into the likeness of Christ
- The reformation of the family structure
- fitting into the biblical model for husbands, wives, sons and daughters.
It is a home where individuals are being transformed by Christ and then going out into the world and demonstrating the life-giving changes Christ is making in them.
A Home of the Light is committed to:
- Model God’s Principles and Christ‘s Character
- Proclaim Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord
- Make Disciples by mentoring sons, daughters and friends
A Home of the Light is important for three main reasons.
- The family is foundational to society.
Together, one man and one woman united in a covenantal relationship designed by God, form an important piece of the foundation upon which the whole of society is built. Just as one crumbling brick in the structure of a house weakens the whole building, so every marriage that falls apart affects us all.
- Home is our first church and our first school.
Home is where we learn right from wrong and how to relate to other people. Home is where children begin to understand and mimic faithfulness, kindness, loyalty, honor, respect, patience, and sacrificial love - or the opposites of those qualities - as they observe their parents’ attitudes and actions. Home is where we practice the character qualities we will take with us into the marketplace. The marriage relationship is fundamental to the home and therefore to the community and even the nation. It is unlike any other bond, and yet it is the framework on which all others hang.
- The cultural winds of our time are blowing toward redefining marriage
and family.
In the name of diversity and inclusivity, some people are striving to pull apart our traditional, God-ordained unions and to separate us from one another. The family is the basic cohesive unit in a society. Redirecting our common thinking to accept individuals (ratherthan families) as our basic cultural building blocks may not seem like a red-flag issue at first, but a civilization built on self-centered individuals will not endure. And it will not honor God.
